Privacy notice

We, Ecole des Loustics, use your personal data to provide our French language activities to you and your children. This privacy policy describes how we collect, store and use your personal data.

Ecole des Loustics is responsible for your personal data. We are the data controller of the data which we collect from you, and as such we control the ways your personal data are collected and the purposes for which your personal data are used.

We take seriously our responsibilities to look after your personal data and we are committed to protecting your privacy. We only ask you for the data we absolutely need to organise and run our activities, and to ensure the wellbeing of the children while they are with us. We do NOT share your personal data with anyone else.

Personal data we collect about you

"Personal data" (or "data" on this page) means anything which makes you identifiable such as your name, contact details, an on-line identifier, etc. It may also include information about how you use our website and mailing list.

The tables below describe the kind of information that we might collect about you, depending on the activities in which you take part or your involvement with the association.

Why we collect your personal data

We can only use your personal data if we have a proper reason for doing so. According to the law, we can only use your data for one or more of these reasons:

  • To fulfil a contract we have with you, or
  • If we have a legal duty to use your data for a particular reason, or
  • When you consent to it, or
  • When it is in our legitimate interests.

Legitimate interests are our association's reasons for using your data, but even so, we will not unfairly put our legitimate interests above what is best for you.

The tables below describe the different ways in which we use your personal data and the reasons on which we rely for using those data.

How we protect your personal data

We protect your personal data against unauthorised access or unlawful use.

We use well-known, reliable, secured systems to store your data.  We use robust passwords and change them regularly (at least once a year or at any departure of a member of the association's committee or the teaching team). We also use operational measures to protect the data, for example by limiting the number of people who have access to the systems where the data are held.

We keep up to date with current best practice on secured systems and the best way to manage our and your information.

How long we keep your personal data for

We keep your data only for as long as we need them.

How long we need data depends on what we are using them for, whether that is to run our activities for you, for our own legitimate interests, or so that we can comply with the law.

We will actively review the information we hold and when there is no longer a valid and reasonable need for us to hold it, we will delete it securely.

Sharing your personal data

We do not share your data with anyone outside the association's committee or the teaching team.

Your rights

You are entitled to see copies of all personal data held by us and to amend, correct or delete such data. You can also limit, restrict or object to the processing of your data.

If you gave us your consent to use your data, e.g. so that we can send you our newsletter e-mails, you can withdraw your consent.

Please note that even if you withdraw your consent, we can still rely on the consent you gave as the lawful basis for processing your data before you withdrew your consent.

You can object to our use of your data where we rely on our legitimate interests to do so. We explained the legitimate interests on which we rely in the tables below under the heading ‘What we use them for’.

To raise any objections or to exercise any of your rights, you can contact us.

When you get in touch, we will get back to you as soon as possible and where possible within one month. There is no charge for any request. We may also ask you to verify your identity before we provide any information to you.

If we decide to change this privacy notice, the changes will be posted on this page.
